UPDATED: Panhandler ‘known’ to police ID’d as victim of ‘suspicious’ death in Barrie park

A man known to officers as a local panhandler has been identified as the victim of a “suspicious” death following an investigation into human remains found at a Barrie park, say police.

Bones belonging to Jamie Goudreault, a 50-year-old man from Barrie, were found in Berczy Park — near Berczy and Penetang streets — around 1 p.m. on June 5 by someone working in the area, police say.
