The Gujarat government announced on Thursday that it will develop a dedicated space manufacturing hub near Khoraj in Ahmedabad, along with a Common Technical Facility (CTF) worth up to ₹100 crore to support the testing and development of space technologies by start-ups and MSMEs, in collaboration with the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe).The upcoming space manufacturing park at GIDC Khoraj will act as a shared infrastructure base where companies working on satellites, launch vehicle components and space applications can test and validate their systems without having to build expensive in-house facilities. The CTF will include a cleanroom, a thermal vacuum chamber, a vibration testing system for heavy payloads up to 12 tonnes, an EMI/EMC testing setup, climate simulation chambers, mass properties measurement systems, magnetic field testing infrastructure and optical calibration facilities for Earth observation satellites.Officials said the model is designed to make it easier for start-ups and smaller companies to enter the space sector by giving them access to high-end testing infrastructure that is typically available only with large organisations. The facility is expected to speed up product development, improve quality checks and support end-to-end testing of spacecraft and satellite systems within Gujarat.Technical supportUnder the agreement, IN-SPACe will provide technical support and contribute up to ₹100 crore for equipment, while the Gujarat government will fund construction, operations and development of the larger space manufacturing park. The State has already earmarked 50 acres for the project at GIDC Khoraj, with the scope to expand up to 100 acres depending on future demand. The initiative is part of Gujarat’s SpaceTech Policy (2025–30) and is aimsed at building a strong space ecosystem around Ahmedabad by attracting start-ups, manufacturers and research-driven companies working across the space value chain.Published on June 11, 2026
