Dating platform Bumble has tapped comedian influencer Jake Shane to host the first episode of its dating advice video series, Bee Line, and is calling fans to submit dating debacles before the series launches.Bee Line will provide a “fresh take on dating advice [with] trusted voices” as hosts, according to a Bumble statement; and will premiere June 16 on YouTube with shorter clips posted to the matchmaking platform’s Instagram and TikTok channels.Shane hosts Therapuss with Jake Shane, a podcast with guests including Selena Gomez, Kerry Washington and Kaia Gerber. Shane has garnered 5.8 million TikTok and Instagram followers with comedy content including reenactments of historical events. “We're opening the lines — literally — for people to bring their real dating experiences, challenges and questions to trusted voices who can offer honest perspectives,” Bumble CMO Neela Pal said.After Shane’s episode, new, to-be-announced hosts will be selected for each monthly release to “provide Gen Z and millennial daters with a candid, judgement-free space to navigate modern relationships with confidence,” according to a brand statement.Beginning Thursday, fans can submit their “burning dating and relationship questions” to Bumble’s Instagram and TikTok channels. Bumble is also hosting Bee Line phone booth activations in New York City outside of From Lucie bakery; and in Los Angeles at Penmar in Venice. There, fans can use the phone booth to dial in, record and submit questions in-person to Shane.“The series is designed to create candid conversations about modern dating and relationships with hosts who aren't afraid to share their own experiences along the way,” Pal explained, noting hosts and fans will “navigate the journey together.”Bumble was founded in 2014 by one of Tinder’s cofounders, Whitney Wolfe Herd.
