R. Rajesh, 45, Station House Officer (SHO) of Mala police station, was found dead in his official quarters on Thursday morning in an apparent case of suicide, the police said.Circle Inspector Rajesh, a native of Sooranad in Kollam district, was found hanging inside his quarters when colleagues went to check on him after he failed to report for duty and could not be reached on phone.Senior police officials, including Thrissur Rural District Police Chief B. Krishnakumar and the Irinjalakuda Deputy Superintendent of Police, rushed to the scene and conducted a preliminary inspection. The police said a suicide note was recovered from the quarters, in which Rajesh had stated that no one should be held responsible for his death, which he attributed to personal reasons. However, officials added that a detailed investigation had been launched to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident.The body was shifted to Government Medical College Hospital, Thrissur, for post-mortem examination after inquest proceedings. Following the autopsy, colleagues and senior officers will pay their last respects at the Irinjalakuda Rural police headquarters and later at the Mala police station.The mortal remains will then be taken to his native place in Kollam. The funeral is scheduled to be held at his residence on Friday.Police sources said Rajesh had been serving at Mala for the past two months after being transferred in connection with the election-related administrative reshuffling.
