The U.S. president further escalated his rhetoric by outlining plans to take control of Iran's oil infrastructure and energy markets.

The United States President, Donald Trump, has threatened a new round of military strikes against Iran, declaring that the U.S. would hit the country “very hard” and eventually seize strategic oil infrastructure, including the vital Kharg Island export hub.

Trump issued the threat in a post on his Truth Social platform on Thursday morning.

He wrote, "The United States will be hitting Iran (whose Navy, Air Force, Radar, Anti-Aircraft, and all other forms of Defense, together with most of its offensive capability, are GONE!), VERY HARD TONIGHT."
