Original name and history: The Estadio Azteca has been open since May 1966 and is home to Club América and the Mexican national team.

The venue can host a maximum of 83,264 but will be limited to 72,766 for the major tournament.

Sponsored name: The Azteca was actually recently renamed from its Azteca moniker.

Last year, the Mexican bank Banorte began sponsoring the arena, with its name changed to Estadio Banorte.

New name: However, the Azteca - or Estadio Banorte – has been renamed the Mexico City Stadium for the tournament and is one of three venues in Mexico to host the World Cup.
