The longtime girlfriend of late Top Gun: Maverick actor James Handy has revealed what happened in the moments before he was stabbed to death.Wendy Gledhill — whose son Michael Gledhill is accused of murdering Handy — said that on the morning of the June 3 killing, 81-year-old Handy went to the front porch to grab the newspaper at his home in Tarzana, California, which he shared with Wendy and 44-year-old Michael.“James had gotten up to get the newspaper at about 9 o'clock, but he didn't make the coffee like he usually does,” Wendy told the Daily Mail. “I just heard the door open because he was getting the paper.”Wendy, who was still in bed and did not notice anything out of the ordinary, said, “I can only assume my son was already out there and they started to argue, from my understanding, on the front yard.”Michael, who had been living with the couple for two years, is accused of then stabbing Handy to death on the front lawn of their home. He is charged with one count of murder with a special allegation that he personally used a deadly weapon, a knife. He has yet to enter a plea as he undergoes psychiatric evaluations.Actor James Handy died at age 81 on the front yard of his home (Channel 4)Wendy told the Daily Mail that her son has schizophrenia and that he allegedly stopped taking his medication the week before the attack. After the killing, Michael called 911 and allegedly told the dispatch, “I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin,” according to the Los Angeles Police Department.First responders found Handy bleeding and unconscious in his front yard at around 9:30 a.m. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he died.Watch Apple TV+ free for 7 dayNew subscribers only. £9.99/mo. after free trial.
