Hugo Broos' and his Bafana team will travel in between Mexico and the United States for matches.

Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos believes the expanded 2026 FIFA World Cup may have become far too bloated, warning that the tournament's unprecedented size is creating severe logistical and physical challenges for players, coaches, and supporters alike.

The global showpiece, hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, is the first World Cup in history to feature an expanded 48-team roster. It represents the largest tournament ever staged, with a staggering 104 matches played across three massive countries and multiple complex time zones.

While Broos remains immensely proud of South Africa's hard-fought return to football's grandest stage, he openly admitted to reporters in Mexico City that the sheer scale of the event has left him questioning whether the competition has grown beyond what is practically sustainable.

"I think it's a little bit too big," the 74-year-old Belgian tactician remarked.
