MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Education (DepEd) is accelerating the nationwide rollout of new classrooms, with P36.227 billion worth of projects covering more than 10,000 classrooms now advancing through procurement, construction, funding approval, and fund release stages.

In a statement on Thursday, DepEd said the latest infrastructure monitoring report showed that P36.227 billion covering 10,488 classrooms in 2,437 school sites nationwide is already progressing under the P58.431 billion budget allocation for 21,714 classrooms.

Of this amount, P17.27 billion has been approved by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), while additional fund releases are still being processed.
