Martin O’Neill has been appointed Celtic manager on a permanent basis following a successful spell as interim coach. The Scottish club confirmed on Thursday that he has been given a one-year contract with a one-year option. The 74-year-old spent two interim spells at the Glasgow club in the 2025-26 season, following the exits of Brendan Rodgers and Wilfried Nancy respectively, the second of which culminated in the club winning the Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup.Celtic won their final nine matches across both competitions to dramatically catch Heart of Midlothian, who had led the league table since September and were chasing a first league title since 1960.The league title was Celtic’s 14th in the last 15 seasons, and ensured they alongside Glasgow rivals Rangers, had shared all 41 league titles since 1985 when Aberdeen — then managed by Sir Alex Ferguson — were champions.

“It is once again a great privilege for me to continue as Celtic manager,” O’Neill said in a release on the club’s website. “Last season will live long in all our memories and to be part of that success has in a big way whetted the appetite to work again for more days like those and bring our supporters those moments.”
