South African photographer Louhani Els was Highly Commended in the Cake Award category with her capture ‘Food Altar - Sardines and my Dad’.

A South African photographer has been recognised in the World Food Photography Awards, which drew nearly 9 000 entries from more than 50 countries.

A photographer from South Africa was highly commended in the Cake Award category for the image Food Altar - Sardines and my Dad.

“A photographer from South Africa rose triumphant from nearly 9 000 entries submitted from over 50 countries around the world. Louhani Els was Highly Commended in the Cake Award category with her capture ‘Food Altar - Sardines and my Dad’,” the organisers said.

British photographer Jo Kearney has been crowned Overall Winner of the World Food Photography Awards for her image ‘A Woman Eats in the Canteen of the Soviet-era Sanatorium’.
