A tech professional recently took to the subreddit Developers India to reveal how shabbily she and her colleagues were being treated at their company. Introducing herself as a junior ML engineer, she revealed she and her colleagues were fresh graduates who gave their all to their roles only to be treated like garbage. She revealed how they were reeling from workplace burnout and excessive demands. Working on weekend became the norm and one day the management told them to pack their bags and stay at the office, so that they could work around the clock on a product. Despite all of these demands, a major deployment failed. “Instead of conducting a technical review or accepting management responsibility, the blame was entirely pushed onto a handful of junior engineers who were just following orders…” she wrote. On May 29, 2026, the company's head of operations informed the AI team verbally that they would be placed on three days of paid operational leave while management reviewed the department's structure and future plans. When the team returned to work on June 4, 2026, they discovered that they had been separated from the rest of the technical workforce. The entire AI division was relocated to a different floor, physically cut off from other employees and departments. The following day, June 5, 2026, the entire AI team was summoned to a meeting and informed verbally that their employment had been terminated with immediate effect. She revealed the team was not provided with written warnings, no opportunity to improve via performance improvement plans, not even a written letter of termination. Their earning wages were also withheld. “On June 6, we formally emailed management as a unified team requesting written confirmation of our employment status, termination documentation, Full & Final settlement details, and the immediate release of our earned wages. As of today (June 10th), we have received absolute radio silence on both email and LinkedIn…” she revealed. Redditors ReactReddit users were left aghast at the inhumane treatment meted to the AI team. One Reddit user wrote: “Why does this happen in India so much? Interns and junior devs are accountable but not the 40 year old dude losing his mind ?!”Another quipped: “Why do people tolerate this ? In my first job, PM created a fake deadline and asked me to work on the weekend to finish a project, 30 days earlier than the actual deadline. I simply said, sure I will come on weekends, as long as the PM comes too, and suddenly there was no need to work on weekends….”
