In France, where he is the subject of several complaints from women accusing him of sexual violence and has been placed under formal investigation in four cases relating to alleged offences between 2008 and 2019, Patrick Bruel was released under judicial supervision after 48 hours in police custody.

The performer has also been granted assisted-witness status in four other cases.

“Formal proceedings against Mr Patrick Bruel were being considered in nine case files. Of these nine files, the investigating judges decided to place him under formal investigation in four of them. In four other files, the investigating judges decided to grant Mr Patrick Bruel assisted-witness status. As for the last file, the limitation period had expired and it was therefore not examined,” explained Patrick Bruel’s lawyer, Maître Fanny Colin.
