Senator Seriake Dickson has acknowledged that the recently concluded primaries of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) were affected by irregularities, but insisted that the challenges were not unique to the party.
He urged aggrieved aspirants and party stakeholders to embrace reconciliation rather than engage in blame games.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Dickson said he addressed the controversies surrounding the opposition party’s primaries during an interview with Arise News TV on Wednesday night, where he expressed sympathy for aspirants who had raised concerns about the conduct of the exercise.
"I noted that, while not claiming that the exercise was perfect, I urged all of them to bear with the party in view of the circumstances we are managing, which have overwhelmed even bigger parties,” Dickson stated.
"This includes parties with a sitting President, 33 Governors, and control of political structures in most states, in the case of the APC, and even the ADC, which is over two years old."
