Sony Pictures has released the first trailer for The Social Reckoning, Aaron Sorkin’s long-awaited follow-up to The Social Network, offering a glimpse at a new chapter in the story of Facebook and its controversial influence on modern society.Set more than a decade after the events depicted in the 2010 Oscar-winning drama, the film centres on the fallout from the Facebook Files investigation and the disclosures made by former Facebook employee Frances Haugen. The trailer shows Zuckerberg preparing to face congressional questioning while defending the company’s role in shaping online communication.Oscar winner Mikey Madison stars as whistleblower Frances Haugen, while Jeremy Allen White plays Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz, whose reporting helped bring internal Facebook research into public view. The cast also includes Bill Burr, Betty Gilpin, and Wunmi Mosaku.Sorkin returns as both writer and director, expanding his involvement after winning the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for The Social Network. Speaking previously about the project, the filmmaker suggested that Facebook’s influence on contemporary life made a follow-up story impossible to ignore.Released in 2010, The Social Network became both a critical and commercial success, earning eight Academy Award nominations and winning three Oscars. The film is widely regarded as one of the defining depictions of Silicon Valley and the modern technology industry.Produced by Sorkin alongside Todd Black, Peter Rice, and Stuart Besser, The Social Reckoning will arrive in theatres on October 9, with a major festival debut expected ahead of its release.
