The Washington Commanders are starting the season on a paw-sitive note with the announcement of their new team dog, TJ. TJ, a 12-week-old yellow Labrador retriever puppy, is joining the team to work on becoming a service dog, according to a press release.Through the Commanders’ partnership with Redwire, a drone technology partner for the team, TJ’s service dog training will serve as a military engagement effort.

The Commanders posted the announcement on X on Wednesday.

TJ comes from the Maryland nonprofit organization Warrior Canine Connection. The organization helps wounded veterans by pairing them with a service dog in training to create a therapeutic environment while preparing dogs for their future.
