The National Solar Energy Federation of India (NSEFI) launched its Southern Regional Committee chapter in Chennai on Wednesday. The NSEFI, through its subsidiary NSEFI Sustainable Energy Federation of Industry announced the formal launch of its Southern Regional Committee chapter in the city.Addressing the gathering, R. Chellappan, Chairman, Southern Regional Committee said that the forum helped push for the growth of the renewable energy sector in India. “The association is addressing the problems, representing the problems to the local governments,” Mr. Chellappan said and advocated for unified policies across the country.Chairman and Managing Director, TANGEDCO, J. Radhakrishnan elaborated on the steps being undertaken by the State government in this sector. Sharing a personal note, Mr. Radhakrishnan said he used to pay bi-monthly electricity bill ranging between ₹20,000 to ₹55,000 but once he opted for roof top solar power, it had reduced drastically.Prasoon Anand, Associate Director, NSEFI, P.A.
