After years of hosting one of the Durban July's most popular marquees, DJ Tira has decided to take a different route in 2026, focusing on Durban Hotbox, a new event co-created with Kabza De Small and scheduled for race day in Durban.
Award-winning producer and Afrotainment boss DJ Tira says the absence of his popular marquee at this year's Hollywoodbets Durban July is not a sign of defeat, but rather a strategic decision to focus on growing new ventures.
Africa's premier horse racing and lifestyle event will take place on July 4 at the Greyville Racecourse in Durban. For years, DJ Tira's Afrotainment marquee has been one of the event's biggest attractions, drawing celebrities, musicians and socialites from across the country.
However, the marquee is notably absent from the list of confirmed hospitality venues for this year's event.
"I don't have a marquee this year. I didn't get any funding from the sponsors, so I just said I'll see next year," DJ Tira told the publication.
