Jetour's R4,999 per month vehicle advert deemed misleading by advertising watchdog.

The Advertising Regulatory Board (ARB) has ruled that a television advertisement promoting the Jetour Dashing motor vehicle was misleading after it failed to disclose critical financing information.

The decision followed a complaint from a consumer who challenged a television commercial advertising the Jetour Dashing as being available “from R4,999 per month.”

According to the complainant, the advertisement did not provide sufficient information for consumers to properly assess the offer, as it omitted key details such as the required deposit, the residual value attached to the finance arrangement, and the repayment period.

The consumer argued that the advertisement created the impression that the vehicle could be obtained for the advertised monthly amount without adequately explaining the financial obligations attached to the deal. The complaint further stated that the lack of disclosure left consumers with more questions than answers and prevented them from making an informed decision.
