Critics say the new price list goes too far.

The prices of drinks, meals and other refreshments at the Téryho Chata mountain hut in the High Tatras have risen sharply, reports the Korzár news site, citing a post shared on social media.

The increase comes several months after Tomáš Hvizdák became the hut’s new keeper following a controversial selection process last summer.

In another contentious development, Hvizdák is also set to take over as keeper of the Chata M. R. Štefánika mountain hut in the Low Tatras from July, after the previous keeper’s contract was terminated.

“We all know that higher prices can be justified when everything has to be carried up by porters. But a 42-percent jump after the change in management is plain crazy,” reads a post by the hiking Facebook group Za Horské Chaty.
