China and the European Union held "in-depth and comprehensive" discussions on establishing a trade and investment consultation mechanism, the Ministry of Commerce said in a statement on Wednesday.
The discussions took place on Tuesday during a meeting between Chinese Vice Minister of Commerce Ling Ji and Ditte Juul Jorgensen, director-general of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Trade and Economic Security, at the EU headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, the ministry said.
The two sides agreed to work toward pragmatic outcomes from the first meeting of the China-EU trade and investment consultation mechanism, with the aim of stabilizing bilateral economic and trade relations and fostering sustainable development, according to the statement.
