Minecraft fans have a new reason to visit Alton Towers this summer, with the resort launching a brand-new Minecraft Meet the Mobs event for the school holidays.Running from 18 July until 28 August 2026, the limited-time experience will give guests the chance to meet Minecraft characters in real life, complete an interactive trail and unlock an exclusive downloadable reward. Included with standard day tickets, it's the first time Alton Towers has hosted an official Minecraft event, and it’s set to be one of the biggest gaming-themed attractions of the summer.If you're planning a visit, here's everything you need to know – plus how to save up to 45 per cent on tickets.Created in partnership with Minecraft, the new pop-up event will see six themed Minecraft scenes appear across the resort.Families can follow a dedicated trail around the park, meeting a collection of Minecraft mobs while collecting stamps on a game card.The attraction is said to be the first experience of its kind in the UK, featuring all-new “baby mobs” alongside official Minecraft character appearances.Guests who complete the trail will receive an exclusive downloadable in-game Minecraft reward, available only through the Alton Towers event.Confirmed dates and ticketsAlton Towers has confirmed that the Minecraft Meet the Mobs event will run from 18 July until 28 August 2026, just in time for the UK summer holidays.The experience is included with standard theme park admission, meaning you can enjoy all Minecraft activities alongside the resort's rides, attractions and entertainment. Prebooked tickets start from £37, saving you as much as 45 per cent, compared with on-the-gate prices (usually £68).For real theme park fans, the Merlin summer sale is running until the end of June, saving you £50 per person on annual passes to all Merlin attractions. This gives you a year’s unlimited entry and is worth considering if you are a regular visitor.Throughout the event, guests can meet official Minecraft characters, including fan favourites:Creeper Iron Golem Chicken Jockey There will also be puppets representing other key characters, such as baby pandas, yellow axolotls, goats, pigs, chicks and wolf pups.Once guests have completed the Minecraft trail and collected all the required stamps, they will receive an exclusive downloadable game reward.According to Alton Towers, the reward will only be available through this UK event.Minecraft-themed snacks and merchandiseFamilies can also enjoy Minecraft-inspired treats, including TNT popcorn and themed ice lollies.
