Tycoon Resources extended his unbeaten record in style at Happy Valley on Wednesday night, sealing a double for Tony Cruz as David Eustace, Brenton Avdulla and Zac Purton also celebrated braces.
Sent off the $1.9 favourite in the first section of the Class Three West Kowloon Handicap (1,200m), Tycoon Resources handled the step up in class and distance comfortably at his third start.
After jumping well from gate four, Angus Chung Yik-lai positioned the three-year-old handy to the pace before racing to the lead in the straight and winning under a hold by one and a half lengths from Refusetobeenglish.
The pair recorded a smart time of 1:09.19, well inside standard, with Cruz considering a tilt at the four-year-old Classic Series next season for the excitement machine.
“He’s an improving horse, I believe he’s got really good prospects. I reckon I’ll run him one more time before the season ends. I believe he’s still got more improvement to come,” Cruz said.
