VodafoneThree has submitted an offer to buy TalkTalk's consumer business in an effort to bolster its home broadband footprint.

As reported by the Financial Times, the UK telco has made a late attempt to buy TalkTalk's consumer business after initially declining to participate in the process.

The unit in question covers 1.75 million customers. VodafoneThree currently serves 1.83 million fixed customers in the UK.

However, the FT reports that VodafoneThree was one of several companies to submit second-round bids for struggling TalkTalk last week. Rival telco Virgin Media O2 was also interested, according to reports earlier this year.
