The Puducherry cyber police have arrested three persons hailing from Tamil Nadu for their involvement in online financial fraud cases here.Police identified the accused as Navaneetha Krishnan, Santhosh Kumar and Sathish Kumar. Two laptops, four mobile phones, five bank passbooks and three SIM cards were seized from the accused, the Cyber Police said in a release. The arrests were made after a person registered a complaint over his inability to withdraw an investment of ₹1.26 crore that was made after a woman caller offered high returns. The task force formed under the direct supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police, Cyber Crime, S. Ragav took up the case for investigation. The suspects were traced to Karur, Namakkal and Tiruppur districts in Tamil Nadu. Further investigation revealed that more than 100 complaints were registered against the three in similar online fraud cases. All the three accused have been remanded to judicial custody, the release said.“In view of the rising online trading frauds, people are advised not to invest money based on unverified claims of huge returns made through social media platforms. People should be cautious in sharing bank account details, especially to strangers,” the release said.
