The Union Cabinet approved Phase 2(A) of Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project for Rs 2,169.04 crore Wednesday. An official statement said this phase spans 6.032 kilometres (km) with five stations. Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar will have 77.63 Km of active Metro Rail Network on completion of this phase."The Sardar Patel Sports Enclave being built for the Commonwealth Games will get connectivity to the airport through this metro,” Union Information Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw told journalists after the cabinet meeting, adding this project will be completed in four years.The Ahmedabad Metro Phase 2A will generate employment of around 2,000 persons during the peak period of construction activity and 500 persons are likely to work during Operation and Maintenance of the system, the statement added.

The Union Cabinet has approved Phase 2(A) of the Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project. This phase will cost Rs 2,169.04 crore and span 6.032 kilometers with five stations. Connectivity will be provided to the Sardar Patel Sports Enclave and the airport. The project is expected to be completed in four years. It will create employment opportunities during construction and operation.
