According to Iranian state media, the attacks targeted U.S.-linked facilities in Jordan, Kuwait and Bahrain, marking one of the most significant military confrontations between Tehran and Washington since both countries agreed to a ceasefire in April.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards on Wednesday said they had launched attacks against a United States military base in Jordan and 21 other targets across the Gulf region in retaliation for recent American strikes near the Strait of Hormuz.

According to Iranian state media, the attacks targeted U.S.-linked facilities in Jordan, Kuwait and Bahrain, marking one of the most significant military confrontations between Tehran and Washington since both countries agreed to a ceasefire in April.

The escalation followed U.S. military operations against Iranian positions around the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic waterway through which a significant portion of the world's oil supply passes.

The U.S. military said its forces struck Iranian air defence systems, ground control stations and surveillance radar sites near the strait after what President Donald Trump described as the downing of a U.S. Apache helicopter by Iran on Tuesday.
