Aditya Chopra’s Yash Raj Films has launched the teaser of Alpha, headlined by Alia Bhatt. The teaser unveils the first origin story of a young assassin, who is raised and built to kill, within the YRF Spy Universe.The teaser sets up the story of a killer (Alia) raised by her father, essayed by Bobby Deol. YRF is set to reveal the character of the other leading lady, Sharvari, soon.An official press release of the movie said, “Alpha is a true-blue popcorn entertainer that is intended to be a celebration of the Alpha attitude of two girls in a never-been-done-before action film fronted by women in cinema.”In the trailer, Bobby Deol’s character is celebrating the 18th birthday of his daughter, essayed by Alia. He assigns her first kill. The teaser then makes a mention of Alpha, a secret training program for the next generation of Indian soldiers. Alia is seen executing slick stunt sequences.Directed by Shiv Rawail, Alpha is set to release worldwide in theatres on July 3, 2026. It also stars Anil Kapoor in a prominent role. Rawali had previously directed The Railway Men, the four-part Netflix series on the 1984 Bhopal gas leak disaster. Initially planned for a Christmas 2025 release, Alpha was postponed to April 17, 2026, with the makers reasoning that the VFX work on it was taking longer than expected.The YRF Spy Universe was launched back in 2012 with Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif’s Ek Tha Tiger. Its success spawned two sequels, Tiger Zinda Hai (2017) and Tiger 3 (2023).Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff’s War released in 2019, which was followed by 2023’s Pathaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone.
