He also anchored BBC's coverage of major tournaments.‌This World Cup will see him do a Rest is Football show for Netflix alongside fellow pundits Micah Richards and Alan Shearer.‌On the first episode, he was teased by Richards when conversation turned to Harry Kane potentially being the top scorer this summer and what it would mean for Lineker's England's legacy after his 1986 Golden Boot win.Richards turned to the camera and said: “Harry please, I am sick to death of this man to my left talking nonsense every single day on the pod about World Cup this, Golden Boot that. Harry please, even if you don’t win it…‌Mocking Lineker Richards added: “'I don’t really mind it actually because all it does, it keeps me relevant'. Leave it out."Shearer then said: "You’re not f*****g relevant anymore, you’re off the BBC. You are on Netflix with us.”That's when Lineker hit back with: “I would say that is a step in the right direction and the pair of you can f*** off.”Article continues belowThere will be more to follow on this breaking news story and Mirror Sport will bring you the very latest updates, pictures and video as soon as possible. Please check back regularly for updates on this developing story.Follow us on Google News, Flipboard, Apple News, Twitter, Facebook or visit The Mirror homepage.Choose Daily Mirror as a 'Preferred Source' on Google News for quick access to the news you value.‌World Cup 2026Gary LinekerBBC
