“I don’t need to win,” Williams insisted on Sunday ahead of her comeback to professional tennis at the age of 44. A comeback remember that she told us in December was not happening. So let’s just take this with a pinch of salt as well.
No, she does not need to win. But boy, does she want to.
“[Winning] is not important to me and it’s important that I keep reminding myself of that,” she added.
“I don’t have anything to prove, I don’t have anything to lose and everything here is just to gain.”
