MANILA, Philippines — The Supreme Court has prohibited the city government of Koronadal from compelling a bus operator to use a public terminal as it violates the private firm’s rights to its property and does not ultimately solve the road congestion problem.
In a 19-page en banc decision on Aug. 12 but released only on Tuesday, the high tribunal denied the petition for review on certiorari filed by Koronadal City and its officials against earlier rulings by the Koronadal City Regional Trial Court (RTC) and the Court of Appeals that went in favor of Yellow Bus Lines.
It also granted the writ of injunction sought by Yellow Bus Lines to prevent the city government from blocking and rerouting its buses.
