Smartcomply, the African cybersecurity and compliance technology company, has joined the PCI Security Standards Council as an Associate Participating Organisation, giving it a formal role in shaping global payment security standards.
The move places the Nigerian firm among a small cohort of African companies contributing to the development of international frameworks that govern payment data security across financial systems.
The PCI SSC is a global, industry-led body that develops and maintains payment security standards used by banks, card schemes, and technology providers. It brings together more than 700 participating organisations across over 60 countries.
Smartcomply said its membership would allow it to contribute African market insights to the Council’s work while engaging in technical discussions on payment security standards.
The company operates two core platforms: Adhere, which focuses on anti-money laundering, know-your-customer compliance and fraud detection, and Seequre, a governance, risk, compliance and cybersecurity automation product. Its tools are used by more than 100 financial institutions across Africa.
