Tip Toe on Channel 4 ended tonight and David Morrissey already has his next series lined up.Hayley Anderson and Hayley Anderson Screen Time TV Reporter22:34, 09 Jun 2026Tip Toe: Alan Cumming and David Morrissey star in trailer David Morrissey has already secured his next drama role, this time alongside Rivals and Line of Duty legends.‌Tip Toe broadcast its fifth and final episode this evening, Tuesday, June 9, on Channel 4, and it proved to be a deeply affecting watch for audiences.‌However, The Walking Dead star David Morrissey has wasted no time, keeping himself occupied with another Channel 4 mini-series, which this time draws from real events.‌The 61 year old actor is set to star in action drama The Siege, a six-part thriller adapted from the book of the same name by Ben Macintyre.It tells the true story of the 1980 Iranian Embassy siege in London, a tense standoff that erupted when six armed Arab Iranian separatists demanded autonomy and seized 26 hostages.‌The official synopsis for The Siege states: "During six days of tension, gunmen, hostages and police battled for control as SAS soldiers prepared a rescue mission."Morrissey portrays Scotland Yard's deputy assistant commissioner John Dellow, who oversaw the initial response and negotiations throughout the siege.He is joined by Rivals and EastEnders legend Danny Dyer, who plays real-life police officer PC Trevor Lock, the sole armed officer on duty at the time of the attack.‌Lock managed to conceal his service revolver throughout his captivity and proved instrumental when the SAS launched their dramatic rescue operation.Further notable stars joining The Siege's ensemble include Line of Duty's Mark Bonnar, The Crown's Alex Jennings, Betrayal's Omid Djalili and Gotham's Sean Pertwee.‌Adding to the excitement, the adaptation is being handled by three-time Emmy and WGA award-winning writer Will Smith, the creative force behind Slow Horses and Veep.Details regarding the remaining cast members' roles in this real-life action drama are yet to be revealed, and an official broadcast date remains unconfirmed.‌Production on The Siege is already underway, with the series expected to land either later this year or in early 2027.Speaking about the forthcoming period drama, Channel 4's chief content officer Ian Katz said: "The show is a heartstopping, emotional thriller that reveals the little-known motivations of the hapless hostage-takers and the very human reality of what went on inside the embassy as the world looked on and Britain's most lethal soldiers practiced their high stakes assault."He added: "It will change the way people understand the siege and reveal how close the famous SAS operation came to disaster."Article continues belowTip Toe is available to watch on Channel 4.
