We’re in Iran under strict conditions. We need permission to go to any area to film, but the authorities do not see anything before transmission. Iran is often portrayed internationally as a country of two clear sides – a minority devoted to the Islamic revolution and its leadership – and the majority opposed to different degrees.
The reality is of course complex – and enduring a year of on-and-off war and its harsh economic impact has also shifted people’s perceptions, as we’ve been finding out.
