The Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch says she wants equalities rules to be scrapped and has called for a major overhaul of the Equalities Act, saying institutions are too worried about being called racist.

Her speech comes after discussion over the murder of Henry Nowak and the police’s response. Kemi Badenoch’s critics say she is trying to head off a challenge from Reform UK.

The TUC union have accused the Tory leader of wanting to ‘legalise discrimination’.
