A US Navy drone boat rescued American crew members who crashed off the coast of Oman, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) told Al Arabiya English on Tuesday, marking an operational first for the US Navy’s first dedicated unmanned systems and artificial intelligence (AI) unit.
“The surface drone that assisted in last night’s rescue of the Apache crew off the coast of Oman was a US Navy Corsair unmanned surface vessel operated by US 5th Fleet’s Task Force 59. The task force began fielding these drones in theater in late March,” CENTCOM Spokesman Capt. Tim Hawkins told Al Arabiya English.
