Anthony Guidera, known for his work in “The Godfather Part III” and “Species,” died Saturday in a Los Angeles-area hospital. He was 65.
He had suffered a cardiac arrest in May and was on life support for three weeks, his wife confirmed to TMZ.
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Anthony,” Valarie Anderson, Guidera’s wife, wrote in a Facebook post shared Saturday. “We are devastated and trying to breathe through the impossible, taking each moment as it comes. Please hold this eternal light in your hearts and our family in your prayers.”
The news was also confirmed by Astara, the spiritual foundation organization Guidera volunteered at: “We are devastated and trying to breathe through the impossible taking each moment as it comes.”
Guidera landed his first film role in Francis Ford Coppola’s “The Godfather Part III” (1990) as Anthony the Bodyguard. He went on to cameo in “Baywatch” (1993), “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine” (1993) and “Valley of the Dolls” (1994).
