June 9 (UPI) -- Police in Vancouver, British Columbia, responded to a home where residents had spotted an unusual animal under their porch: an African serval.
The Vancouver Police Department said on social media that officers and conservation officers were called Sunday night to an East Vancouver home on a report of a large animal under the porch.
"Friendly reminder: If your pet escapes, give your neighbours a heads up. Last night, someone found a serval under their porch. Not a typo. A full-grown African serval cat, which is approximately 3X larger than your typical housecat," the post said.
The post included video of the large cat hissing among the various holiday decorations stored under the porch.
The serval was returned to its owner.
