The Cape Town International Jazz Festival (CTIJF) is proud to announce its partnership with Ian Burgess-Simpson Pianos, which brought world-class instrumentation to the 2026 festival stages while highlighting the strength of local technical expertise.
As part of this collaboration, Ian Burgess-Simpson Pianos exclusively supplied a Fazioli piano, widely regarded as one of the finest handcrafted instruments in the world. The piano featured in select performances across the festival weekend, including that of jazz giant Abdullah Ibrahim. The choice of the Fazioli for Ibrahim’s performance was both intentional and meaningful. Known for its clarity, responsiveness, and wide tonal range, the instrument created the perfect foundation for a performance that was both powerful and deeply expressive.
While the Fazioli represents the highest level of international craftsmanship, the partnership also reflected the depth of local expertise. As the premier supplier of Fazioli in South Africa, Ian Burgess-Simpson Pianos continues to set the standard for quality and precision, ensuring that CTIJF artists have access to instruments of the highest calibre.
