Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister K. Atchannaidu on Tuesday accused YSRCP-affiliated social media groups and certain individuals of spreading misinformation about Totapuri mango procurement and the functioning of pulp processing industries in the State.In a press release, the Minister alleged that misleading messages were being circulated through WhatsApp groups and social media platforms to create confusion among mango farmers and gain political mileage. He accused the YSRCP of politicising an issue affecting farmers and attempting to mislead growers.Mr. Atchannaidu said the government had intervened whenever mango farmers faced difficulties and would continue to support them. He said officials had been directed to ensure remunerative prices for farmers, facilitate smooth procurement and maintain coordination with pulp processing industries.The Minister warned against the circulation of unverified information and said the government would take a serious view of false claims being spread on social media. He cautioned that those found disseminating baseless allegations could face legal action.Appealing to mango growers, Mr. Atchannaidu urged them not to be misled by rumours and to bring any genuine grievances directly to the notice of the government.
