Denise Welch has teased a new job after appearing in Channel 4 thriller Tip Toe14:54, 09 Jun 2026Denise Welch is returning to her North West roots as she hints at new TV job.The fresh career move comes after her Channel 4 success in the gripping thriller Tip Toe.The 68-year-old star is well-versed in television, having featured in all four major British soaps, with one of her most iconic performances being Coronation Street's Rovers Return landlady Natalie Barnes from 1997 to 2000.Audiences will also recognise her as Steph Haydock in the hit BBC drama Waterloo Road, when she made a comeback after a 15-year absence from the programme. While she originally starred as Head Teacher, she returned as a supply teacher following a staffing crisis at the school.The actress has recently featured in Channel 4's new thriller drama, Tip Toe, which centres on Leo and Clive, neighbours in Manchester for nearly 15 years. Yet just as life appears to be calming down, tensions in the world around them begin to escalate, reports the Manchester Evening News.Language transforms into ammunition, views become extreme, and slowly, two neighbours turn into mortal enemies in this tense suburban thriller that questions everything we perceive as secure.Denise portrays Diane, who features in the third instalment of Tip Toe. Speaking about Diane, Denise explained: "Diane finds herself on her own at 67, but still with her needs and her desires. It's so important to see women in that way. We're so used to seeing the nana roles, forgetting that we still want to remain sexually active."Speaking with the Manchester Evening News on the red carpet, she elaborated: "I'm only in it for one episode, episode three the best one. I am a nana in real life and I love it, but we are so much more than that."She continued: "Manchester is my home, I've been welcomed on Canal Street from way back when I was in Coronation Street." Denise then revealed this series was produced with considerable urgency, stating: "It is needed right now and that's why everyone was rushing urgently so it would be ready for right now."No one knows how to have a conversation anymore... There's so many people I go, if I had a conversation with you then you'd understand. That's what we're missing."Posting to her Instagram, Denise hinted at her forthcoming project as she returns to her North East origins. She wrote: "Loving working in Newcastle with @izzysorbs What a hoot!!"This follows her completion of filming a new six-part Channel 5 series titled Forever Home, also shot in the North East. Set to broadcast later this year, it's adapted from one of Graham Norton's bestselling novels.The narrative centres on a wife who makes a chilling discovery that prompts her to suspect her husband might be a killer.
