People will be offered blood pressure checks while they wait for the bus under NHS plans to reduce heart attacks and strokes.
Patients in areas of England with the highest rates of illness and death from preventable heart conditions have a better chance of survival if it is caught earlier.
Five regions – Liverpool, Greater Manchester, West Midlands, London and South Yorkshire – will be targeted with routine checks in everyday settings like community centres, bus stations, transport hubs and other local venues.

The initiative, which launches this month, is designed to catch patients who are often reluctant or too busy to go to their GP to have their blood pressure taken, or may not realise they are at risk from heart attack or stroke.
