Car manufacturer FCA US has recalled more than one million Jeep vehicles because they could catch on fire.The recall applies to some Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator models, according to a June 4 recall notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).The wiring of the vehicles' electric hydraulic power steering pump – a system used for steering – may overheat and cause a fire, even if the car is parked with the ignition off, according to the notice.Anyone who owns one of the affected vehicles should park it outside and away from buildings until a repair is made on the system. FCA is not aware of any accidents related to this issue, the notice says.Here's what to know.Which Jeeps are being recalled?The recall affects 1,076,999 Jeep vehicles, including:Jeep Wrangler vehicles in model years 2021-2025Jeep Gladiators in model years 2021-2025In total, the recall includes more than 787,000 Jeep Wranglers and 289,000 Jeep Gladiators.What to do if your car has been recalledTo fix the issue, dealers will inspect and replace affected parts as necessary, free of charge, per the recall notice.Until their vehicle is inspected and repaired, owners should park outside and away from structures.FCA US said it expects to mail notification letters to owners on July 9.
