Vripack’s newest sailing yacht has got the power—the clean, green power, that is.

The 230-foot Project Zero, currently nearing launch at Vitters shipyard in the Netherlands, will be powered entirely by renewable energy, enabling up to two weeks of autonomy at sea and a virtually unlimited range. The project has been kept largely under wraps throughout construction, but the Dutch design studio is finally sharing more details regarding the design.

Zero—set to be the first all-electric superyacht to hit the seas, according to the Dutch design studio—will have no traditional engine on board, but rather next-gen systems that allow it to run on wind, solar, and thermal energy.

Designed by Vripack in collaboration with Dykstra Naval Architects, the yacht will produce the majority of its power through hydrogeneration using uniquely designed turbine propellers. The displacement hull, developed with input from Emirates Team New Zealand’s America’s Cup team, has also been engineered for optimal hydrogeneration and speed. The distinctive curved shape delivers a 2.5 percent increase in speed and an 8 percent uptick in electric power generation compared to conventional designs, initial tests show.
