Avalahalli police have registered a case against five persons for allegedly storing and using explosive materials without valid permission at a granite quarry in Yerapanahalli village on the outskirts of Bengaluru.According to the complaint filed by Head Constable Shivu M., who was on special night patrol duty along with other personnel, on June 4, the police received credible information from local residents that explosives were being illegally stored and used for blasting operations at a granite quarry owned by Venkateshwara Granite Crusher.The went to the spot around 4 a.m. They saw blasting operations being carried out using explosive substances and detonators. During questioning, workers — identified as Vikas, Thouhid, and Sandeep — claimed that quarry owner Venkataramana Reddy and ‘crusher manager’ Lokesh Reddy had arranged the explosives for blasting rocks.Police said the accused failed to produce any licence or authorisation from the competent authority for possessing, storing or using the explosives.
