The mask arrives with a fabric drawstring storage bag, as well as a charging wire, handheld controller, a spare padded insert in the shape of goggles for the eyes, and an attachment strap with padding for the back of your head. Its rose gold colour makes the mask look expensive, with the futuristic shape featuring a mirrored front. The main infrared wavelength is 1064nm. This is combined with the individual wavelengths of red at 650nm, blue at 465nm and yellow at 590nm to make up the red, yellow, purple and orange light variations. These four settings are: brightening, skin tightening, acne removal and smoothing. You can cycle through them easily, by pressing each button on the handheld controller. With one treatment time lasting for 10 minutes, the brand suggests following up with a second setting to make this up to 20 minutes. When setting the mask up, I added the strap which attaches it to the head and comes complete with some padding at the back. After putting it on, I noted that the raised internal eye padding is the only part of the mask that touches the face. I was also pleased to find out that the mirrored front is transparent when wearing the mask (without this I think it would feel a bit claustrophobic). Interestingly, this mirrored component is to provide 360-degree reflection so that the LEDs reach all aspects of the face. While comfy to wear for the most part, I did feel a bit of pressure on my brow bone and the bridge of my nose towards the end of a cycle. I have also found that after just one ten-minute treatment, the mask feels quite warm both inside and to touch. Because of this, I tended to stick to doing one cycle at a time, rather than two in a row as the brand suggests.I’ve been using the mask three times a week for nearly a month, and I tend to use the red wavelength the most. While LED face masks are about long-term use rather than a quick fix, after four weeks I think my skin does appear brightened. This is undeniably a splurge buy and an investment. However, the wavelength strength for each setting is impressive, and the option to address different skincare concerns sets it apart from some other leading brands too. I’ve been pleased with how easy the mask is to use and the results seen so far, and am keen to keep testing it to track long-term progress.
