Greek shipowner Harry Vafias received a distinguished award from the Liberian Registry during the international shipping exhibition Posidonia 2026.Vafias heads a group of five shipping companies, three of which are listed on U.S. stock exchanges. The award, presented at the Liberian Flag pavilion, recognizes his long-standing partnership with the Liberian Registry, which dates back to 2011. Today, his fleet includes 50 vessels sailing under the Liberian flag.According to the Liberian International Ship & Corporate Registry (LISCR), Vafias represents a new generation of maritime leaders—one that combines the industry’s strong traditions with an innovative entrepreneurial approach.Since assuming the role of Chief Executive Officer of the Group, he has overseen the successful expansion of a global shipping enterprise, including the Nasdaq-listed companies StealthGas Inc., Imperial Petroleum Inc. and C3is Inc..
