The Supreme Court has directed the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to take urgent steps to declare the Class 12 Improvement Examination results and submit a clear roadmap for releasing them by the end of this week. Hearing the matter on Monday, the court asked the board to ensure that the process moves quickly and without delay. Delivering a strong message, the bench said, "If needed, then burn the midnight oil, but do it by Friday."The development comes at a time when thousands of CBSE students are waiting for updates related to post-result processes, including re-evaluation and verification requests.Over 1.6 lakh students applied for verification and re-evaluationMeanwhile, CBSE has completed the application process for Class 12 verification of marks and re-evaluation. The online window remained open from June 2 to June 7.Sharing details of the exercise, the board said, "During the above application period, more than 1.6 lakh candidates successfully submitted requests pertaining to over 3.8 lakh answer books... ."Only those students who had already obtained scanned copies of their answer books in the earlier stage were allowed to apply for verification of issues observed and re-evaluation of answers.Students raise concerns over delayed answer sheet accessEven after the application deadline ended, some students continued to post complaints on social media. Several candidates claimed they did not receive scanned copies of their answer sheets within the expected timeframe.CBSE responded by stating that it remains committed to a transparent and student-focused post-result process. The board said genuine concerns are being addressed through its support channels.When can students expect CBSE re-evaluation results?CBSE has not yet announced an official date for releasing the Class 12 re-evaluation results.However, re-evaluation outcomes are generally published several weeks after the application process closes. Since the latest application window ended on June 7, revised results are expected sometime in July 2026, according to The Economic Times.Students who have applied are advised to keep checking the official CBSE website for the latest updates.Once the review process is completed, any change in marks will be reflected in the revised score records issued by the board.What triggered the CBSE Class 12 result controversy?The discussion around re-evaluation gained momentum after the declaration of CBSE Class 12 results on May 13.Many students reported lower-than-expected scores, particularly in subjects such as Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
