A new poster for the live-action ‘Look Back’ adaptation

The live-action adaptation of Look Back has unveiled its first teaser trailer, key visuals, and principal cast, offering fans their first look at the highly anticipated film based on Tatsuki Fujimoto’s beloved one-shot manga.The newly released footage introduces the story’s two central characters, Fujino and Kyomoto, across different stages of their lives while confirming a September 11 theatrical release in Japan.Natsuki Deguchi, known for her role in The Makanai: Cooking for the Maiko House, will portray Fujino, with Fūri Nanase playing the younger version of the character. Production is being handled by Daiju Koide, whose previous credits include Shin Kamen Rider.The story follows two young artists whose lives become intertwined through a shared passion for drawing. What begins as rivalry gradually develops into a deep creative bond as they pursue their artistic ambitions and navigate personal challenges.Originally published by Fujimoto, best known as the creator of Chainsaw Man, Look Back became a critical and commercial success for its emotional exploration of friendship, ambition, and the sacrifices often tied to artistic expression. The manga’s popularity was further boosted by the acclaimed animated adaptation released in 2024.International distributor GKIDS has also confirmed plans to bring the live-action film to theatres across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Ireland. Release dates for more territories have yet to be announced.The official trailer for Look Back will begin screening in cinemas across Japan from June 12 ahead of the film’s September debut.
