Helsinki-based Skyfora has raised €6.5M to scale its platform that converts existing telecom infrastructure into a real-time atmospheric sensing network.
The round includes Eviny Ventures, Ugly Duckling Ventures, LUMO Labs, and the EIC Fund, alongside non-dilutive support from Business Finland.
The funding will accelerate commercial expansion across Europe, the US, and the Middle East, and strengthen partnerships with telecom operators and AI weather-forecasting platforms.
There is a big data gap in global weather forecasting. Satellites monitor the upper atmosphere, while ground stations only cover areas where people live. Large parts of the atmosphere, especially the layer above cities, coastlines, mountains, and oceans, remain largely unmeasured. Updates are infrequent, and the data is insufficiently detailed for modern AI models.
Skyfora, founded in 2019 by Svante Henriksson and Antti Pasila, believes the solution is already in place at millions of sites worldwide. It simply has not been activated yet.
